As part of some Sunday reading, I ran across a great infographic and article about the impact of technology is having on our lives.  As you look at the infographic and read the piece, there are a few stats that stood out that while they may be changing people’s lives for the negative in some cases, as we all work to define the future of work and how organizations will work into the future, the statistics and findings are quite interesting and should be used in any case for mobile, connected and collaborative technologies today.  how-technology-affects-sleep-164845 (1)

  • 95% of 18-29 year olds sleep with their device right next to their bed (or in their bed with them)
  • 25% don’t silence their phone before going to bed at night
  • 50% will check their email immediately if they wake at night

So you may ask, why am I talking about this?  The fact of the matter is that each day another “digital immigrant” leaves the workplace and each day another “digital native” who sleeps with their device, expects for it to replace the PC (desktop and laptop) and expect access to information, intelligence and communication channels on a real time basis, even if under the covers. Are you ready?  Is this part of your strategy?  If not, you better make it part of it as quickly as possible.  Mobile first and connected always must be mantras in your workplace technology strategy – take a read of article here and check out infographic here. Lets get going folks (even if from bed).  Time’s a wastin! Another infusion of knowledge…
